Monaro CV8

The Monaro Series 2 is here!
The Monaro Series 2 is now on sale. Below we'll show you what the series 2 Monaro has to ofer over the series one. We will also tell you about the Monaro CV6 and some early concepts of the Monaro.

Monaro Series 2
The big news about the Series 2 Monaro CV8 is the revamped high out put 5.7lt gen III 16 valve pushrod V8, which now pumps out 235 killo watts at 5200rpm and 465nm at 4400rpm. The engine reaches this amount of power thanks to a straighter exhaust system with twin exhaust pipes at the rear for better 'breathing'. It now gets new 18x8 inch five spoke alloys which help its already sharp handling perform at its peak. Having the extra oompf and weighing less than an SS means its capable of going faster. How fast? Try 0-100km/h in around 5.7 seconds and it does the 400 metres in about 13.8 secs it also has a top speed of over 250 kays.
Monaro Series 2 Dash
The Major visual change of the Monaro 2 is in the cabbin, where it gets a VY dash, centre console in brushed alloy trim and steering wheel which all looks ace. The features are brushed alloy door handles, gear knob, hand brake, pedals and steering wheel spokes. You get traction control, cruise control, climate control, ABS, Air con, Power steering, trip computer, leather seats, (buckets at rear) 2 front and 2 side air bags, new Blaupunkt 6 CD Head unit and 260 km/h speedo. Options are a rear spoiler, Satalite Navigational System, sun roof, 6 speed manual or 4 speed slusher and Holden Assist 'come and get me' package.
New Wheels
These are the new 18x8 inch 5 spoke alloy wheels which are exclusive to CV8. They are wraped in sticky Bridgestone Potenza 235/40 ZR18 tyres at the front and rear.
Devil Yellow
Devil yellow was launched on the series 1 Monaro
and was and still is available on both HSV Coup'e
models.
Hothouse Green
Hothouse green was released on the series 1 Monaro and was very popular it is now also available on the ss sedan and some HSV models.
Phantom Black
Phantom black is available on all commodore and
Coup'e models including HSV's.
Purple Haze
Purple Haze is a brand new colour
and it's exclusive to the series 2 Monaro.
Quicksilver
This is another colour that is available on all
commodore and coup'e based models.
Redhot
If they were going to remake the Monaro it would have to have had a shade of red. It is shared with all holden commodore models.
Vespers Blue
This is available on all Holden and HSV commodore based models (except SS), it is not available on the HSV Coup'e models.
Monaro CV6
The Monaro CV8 isn't the only coup'e Holden has to ofer there's also the Monaro CV6. The CV6 has the same shaped exterior but beneeth the bonnet it has a 3.8lt Super charged V6 delivering 171 killo watts at 5200 rpm and 375nm of torque at 3000 rpm driven through a 4 speed auto. It gets smaller 17x8 inch alloy wheels and the oval shaped rear exhaust seen on the series 1 Monaro.
Series 1 Monaro CV8
This is the series 1 Monaro was launched in late 2001, it had most of the features that the series 2 has. It had VX interior and wheels which were borrowed of the VX Clubsport. It had a 5.7lt gen III 16 valve pushrod V8 just like the new one but this one only delivered 225kw at the same 5200rpm and 460nm five down on the current model. It had a single oval exhaust like the CV6. The series 1 CV6 had the same engine as the current one, with different wheels and the VX interior.
VT Monaro concept
This is what the early concept of the monaro it had VT front and rear styling. It was not called the Monaro until a large majority of people called it the new monaro when it was origianally going to be called something along the lines of the 'VT coup'e'. But because everyone was calling it Monaro Holden changed their mind which was a wise choice. It was developed in 1997.
